Tacloban teener files another complaint against Tanenglian, taipan Lucio Tan's brother (The Manila Times)

Another housemaid of Mariano Tanenglian, 19-year-old Aljane Bacanto of Tacloban City, filed criminal complaints before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Mariano Tanenglian, brother of taipan Lucio Tan, and members of his family for alleged "maltreatment, serious illegal detention, slavery, and frustrated homicide."

Bacanto's fellow co-helper, Mary Jane Sollano, 18, of Pagadian City, Zamboanga de Sur has earlier filed a complaint against their former employer, his wife Aleta, and children Maximilian and Fayette.

In her affidavit, Bacanto recounted her ordeal with the Tanenglians from May 2006 until the time she was allowed to go back to their province last February 2009.

Like Sollano, she was not allowed to leave the house, call anyone, deprived of food and were not given any salary. She state that the only time she was allowed to write to her family was upon the dictation of Fayette. The latter told the helper never to mention their situation at the Tanenglian residence.

To survive, the two were forced to eat dog food only to be caught and punished even more.

Bacanto was responsible for reporting their ordeal to the family of Sollano who was rescued last August 10 through the combined elements of the Quezon City Police District, Commission on Human Rights and Department of Social Welfare and Development.
